Body:

The story progresses nicely. I'm not thrilled with some of my writing choices, but I do plan on a full edit and rewrite once I get a significant chunk posted. So far I have about 10 weekly installments lined up in various stages of completion, which is pretty good, I think. I am looking forward to the "let it sit and ferment" stage. As I have said, I welcome comments and suggestions. Is it even possible to sever a femoral artery with a broken glass? I don't know - I've never tried.

Other current writing projects:

1) A long essay or short book titled, "The Gospel is Not a Container!" It's about our metaphors of understanding and knowing, and how (I believe) much of what is called "postmodernism" is really a critical re-examination of those metaphors. Metaphors have political and social power that extend to the Bible, and people tend to fall into camps based on how "concrete" or "crystallized" their metaphors are.

2) A "what happened here" piece on my first 3 years of pastoral ministry.

3) A guide to pastoring and mentoring young adult males. Spirituality for young men is not necessarily either sitting down to talk about our feelings or going out to throw a football. Somehow we need to get to a place that takes gender differences seriously, and respects the male brain without normalizing, villifying, or idolizing it.

4) A children's book that is a fairly transparent allegory for Biblical interpretation.
