School House Rock

Abstract:
A friend posted this parody of school house rock about bias in the media.

Body:
Humor is a powerful thing. Even though the animation takes itself lightly (conspiracy theory rock), it still packs a punch. The footnote claims that it was edited out of subsequent SNL showings. I have no idea if that is correct information or not.

I do think it is interesting that we do not hear the news that affects the news. I'm astonished at how much coverage the "runaway bride" story has gotten. The regular excuse for running stories about celebrity trials, family arguments about right to life/death, and other such stuff is that people want those kinds of stories. Perhaps. But most of it feels like a distraction to me. I'm not sure real news gets tried that often. Even NPR is reluctant to talk about news involving radio broadcast legislation. True, it isn't as titillating as celebrity child-molesters.

I haven't been listening to the news much lately, anyway, but I'm thinking of taking a news fast. Two weeks, no news. When my father counsels people who are having anxiety and depression, one of the things he prescribes is to stop watching the news. That would probably be a good recommendation for the whole nation. Two weeks - no news.
